Sourcing and Inventory Manager

Job description

The Sourcing and Inventory Manager is responsible for supporting all aspects Company Food product supply, availability and inventory management. This position is responsible for supporting the execution of category sourcing strategies to assure supply, quality, and cost competitiveness for MIC Food in the U.S and international markets. Reporting to the Senior Procurement Manager, this role is a key member of the Supply Chain Management Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the execution of strategies, programs, and policies for our products to meet near- and long-term operational requirements of Company Food.

  • Responsible for sourcing and negotiating with suppliers to ensure the availability of quality products at competitive prices.
  • Manage supplier relationships, assess supplier performance, and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
  • Engage with key supply chain teams, including Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Distribution and Logistics, to support organizational and Company Food goals to maximize value and efficiency
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators evaluating supplier performance including lead time, fill rate and compliance.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels across multiple 3rd party distribution centers.
  • Support product innovation, market tests, sustainability, and strategic initiative projects from a supply-related perspective.
  • Analyze and report on supply chain metrics to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Success as an effective communicator throughout the organization and across multi-level personnel both internally and externally
  • Familiarity with analyzing inventory data, working with distribution centers, and understanding DC operations, Purchase Order processes, inventory management and freight logistics (ocean freight, LTL, FTL, temperature controlled, re-distribution, crossdock).
  • Proficient in data manipulation and analysis. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills leading to driving supply chain improvements and cost savings.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to accurately multi-task to meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written skills, including formal presentation experience and ability to prepare and deliver presentations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP preferred). Demand and inventory forecasting, production planning software is a plus.
  • Ability to be solutions oriented, proactive, results driven and a self-starter that can work with little supervision.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain and/or business experience in Food Manufacturing, Distribution, or related field required
  • Fluent English and Spanish preferred.
  • Agriculture background is a plus.
  • The position may require occasional international travel.
